Facilities
Bedrooms
GreenAcres provides 47 single bedrooms with en-suite facilities. All rooms are fully furnished with a bed, wardrobe, chest of drawers, bedside cabinet and curtains. Additional especially adapted/disabled baths and toilets are available throughout the home.
Each bedroom is newly decorated prior to residents moving in. We encourage rooms to be personalised with items such as photographs, ornaments and additional small furnishings, so that residents are familiar with their own surroundings.
Social Rooms
GreenAcres offers a number of large communal areas including; a quiet lounge, an activities room, a bar area and a formal dining room.
Relatives are invited to attend meat draws and raffles that are regularly held in the bar area during an evening. Relatives are notified of such events in advance via our internal notice board.
GreenAcres offers a wide range of activities designed to encourage residents to keep mobile and pursue their hobbies and interests for example: reading, baking, gardening plus many more. We try to encourage residents to participate in activities they will have undertaken prior to admission as well as more special outings such as trips to the beach, garden centre, journeys on the little train, sledging in the snow, and meals out for pub grub or fish and chips. Additionally, volunteers regularly come into the Home to offer activities such as music, afternoon tea parties.
An on-site hairdressers salon is also available. For a small fee, residents may have their hair cut, washed, permed, etc. by our qualified hairdresser, who visits the Home every Monday and Tuesday.
Garden
GreenAcres features a secure spacious garden, with lots of seating, a walking loop, a Pétanque court, raised planters for residents’ gardening and pergolas that provide shade.
The sensory gardens have been designed in such a way to enable everyone to have access and as we understand the importance of family and friends, we have created a space that can be enjoyed by everyone. We actively encourage our residents to be out in the open taking part in activities, relaxing, reminiscing and enjoying the specially adapted planting areas and potting shed.
Barbeques are regularly held in the garden in the summer months.
Kitchen
Menus are varied and nutritious. Special diets e.g. diabetic, gluten free are catered for and where possible, favourite dishes are included.
Tea, coffee and other hot and cold drinks are available 24 hours a day, relatives and visitors are encouraged to take advantage of these facilities in the dining room. Afternoon refreshments are also made available to residents.
Additional Amenities
GreenAcres is wheelchair accessible; with a ramp at the front of the building and a further two ramps in the garden. The Home is also equipped with two lifts and a generator.
Nurse call systems and CCTV are located throughout the Home.
Laundry is carried out within the Home’s onsite laundry facility.
The Home has pleasant views and is located in Guernsey’s countryside. We have many outings to give our residents the opportunity to enjoy local beaches, garden centres, pub grub etc. Events for residents, families and friends include a Meat Draw, summer fete, Christmas, birthday and Liberation Day celebrations, Alzheimer’s Association events and family parties.
